Barbara Seaman Honored in Ms. Magazine
I'd like to let you know that the Spring issue of Ms. hit the newsstands in late April featuring a remembrance I wrote about NWHN's co-founder and women's health pioneer Barbara Seaman. I was both honored and grateful that Ms. Magazine offered me this chance to reflect on the impact of Barbara and her work. She was such an important figure in the feminist movement. Ms. Magazine gave me plenty of space to reflect on the full scope of Barbara's work, from her first article about a woman's health issue – women’s struggle to be taken seriously when they wanted to breastfeed their babies in the early 1960s – to her last two books, which she finished just before she died. I know Barbara would want her passing, and our remembrances of her, to be a vehicle for more women to learn more Barbara herself and the movement she inspired. I hope you enjoy reading the article.
You can find this issue of Ms. Magazine on the newsstands, or you can subscribe today by going to their website.
Sincerely,
Cindy Pearson
NWHN Executive Director
